In 2007 the archaeological societies of Australasia will stage a joint conference entitled New Ground. This landmark event will bring together archaeologists and practitioners from all fields of research and practice to establish a new platform for research interchange in Australasian Archaeology. New Ground will focus on sharing the results of groundbreaking research, making connections between the diverse array of archaeologies practiced and setting directions for future studies, promotion and conservation practice in Australasian Archaeology. The forum will bring together educators, researchers, consultants, government archaeologists, students and other practitioners grappling with some of the most topical issues in archaeology today.

Unfortunately the Kurnell/La Perouse and Blue Mountains tours have been cancelled due to lack of interest. Refunds will be organised for those who have paid.

Booking in/ Registration:
Programmes, name tags and tax receipts will be handed out at the conference at the registration desk with the registration pack when you check in at the Friday night opening event (Nicholson Museum - see below). The registration/check in desk will be open each morning from 8:30am at the Bosch Lecture Theatres complex for those attending single days or registering late.
**Please note - Unpaid/new registrations can only be paid by cheque or credit card on the day - no cash facilities are available.

Conference Dinner:
Persons wishing to attend the conference dinner will need to have registered by the start of the conference as we need to advise the restaurant of final numbers.

Opening Night:
4:30 - Registration/ Check in desk opens outside the Nicholson Museum (SW corner of Main Quad, Uni Of Sydney).
5:30-6:45 Welcome Drinks in Nicholson Museum and viewing of the Irrawang Pottery exhibition.
7:00 - 7:10 'Welcome to Country' outside front of Great Hall.
7:15 - 7:30 Great Hall - Welcome to University and Conference Housekeeping.
7:30 - 8:30 Keynote Address by Prof M. Parker-Pearson 'Archaeology and the Media - Be careful what you wish for'.
